Application in details
Concentrated solar power (CSP).
The molten salt receiver (MSR) is the center and most important part of a CSP plant. It receives solar radiation and converts it into thermal energy. It includes a solar tower, a complex of parabolic troughs and photovoltaic solar panels.
The site combines CSP and photovoltaic technologies using the IPP model with a capacity of 950 MW. It will use 700 MW of CSP, including 600 MW from the parabolic trough complex and 100 MW from the solar tower, as well as 250 MW from photovoltaic solar panels.
Scalability
When completed, the project will have the world's largest heat storage capacity of 15 hours, ensuring round-the-clock energy availability. Phase 4 will provide clean energy to approximately 320,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by 1.6 million tons annually.
The project covers 44 km2 and has broken numerous world records, including the lowest levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of 7.3 US cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for 700 MW CSP and 2.4 US cents per kWh for 250 MW photovoltaic solar panels.
