CO₂-to-protein

Technology

CO₂-to-protein

Country

Great Britain and Netherlands

Application in details

The UK's first scalable route to sustainable protein production that captures carbon dioxide from bioenergy production.

Deep Branch uses pure CO2 and hydrogen to create Proton, a single cell protein (SCP) optimised for animal nutrition. It can replace conventional livestock feeds such as fish meal and soybeans.
The carbon recycling solution helps companies that want to reduce their carbon footprint without negatively impacting their operating costs. The patented fermentation platform converts carbon dioxide and hydrogen into high-value ingredients.

Scalability

Instead of relying on traditional protein sources, fishmeal and soy, which are often sourced from South America, Proton™ based feeds can be produced from local ingredients with up to 90% less carbon footprint. Proton™ is not only significantly more sustainable but also more cost competitive, making the switch to Proton™ based feed an easy decision.
