Application in details

The technology will help cities develop strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with their commitments under the Paris Agreement. A specific part of the ClimateOS platform that ClimateView offers for free is a «critical analysis function» that allows cities to comprehensively assess emissions in every sector of their economy, including transport, buildings, industry, energy and waste.

The «digital city» feature then allows cities to model their economy and examine the impact of numerous carbon reduction initiatives and how they interact. Cities then choose the combination of initiatives that best suits their local conditions to reduce emissions while maintaining a healthy economy. The technology will also track each city's progress and provide updates on how fast it needs to reduce emissions to stay on track to meet its commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Scalability

The ClimateOS analysis toolkit will allow cities to deal with the complexity of the transition by breaking down the citywide economy into 80 manageable transitional elements. Each one represents a transition to a low-carbon way of meeting a specific need, such as a shift from gasoline and diesel cars to electric vehicles. Cities can then plan actions for each shift, such as subsidizing electric vehicle purchases and building charging infrastructure
